Detail

  • Inscription no. 10 in the 1900 catalogue stands on a pillar of the Bandri gateway of the fort and names Kapilendra.ASI 1900
  • Kapilendra was the Gajapati king of Orissa. A related inscription records that his son Ambira captured Warangal fort on 2 February 1460.Epigraphia Telanganica 2023Nizam’s Archaeological Reports 1920–31
  • Two Gajapati records of 2 February 1460 survive at the fort gates. D. C. Sircar placed Ambira's record on the eastern gate and Raghudeva's on the western gate, locally called the fifth gate.Epigraphia Telanganica 2023
  • P. Sreenivasachar disagreed and placed Ambira's record on the stone gateway on the western side. The 1900 survey spells the king's name Kapilendra, as Ambira's record does. The Bandri gateway was probably the gate carrying Ambira's record.Epigraphia Telanganica 2023ASI 1900
